Information for 2013 – For other Indianapolis area celebrations, click here.
The only time I’ve ever seen the Downtown Indianapolis 4th of July Fireworks was a few years ago when it was rained out on the 4th and rescheduled on the 5th. We made it to the very outskirts of downtown and pulled into a parking lot with a lot of other cars and watched the spectacular display over the city. Many residents have favorite spots for viewing this show and it seems like the higher you are the better.
Being downtown at the Indiana War Memorial is your best bet if you want to be a part of all of the fun Independence Day festivities and have the best view of the Downtown Freedom Blast! Where is a better and more appropriate place to celebrate? There isn’t one!
Live music, food and the Kids Area are all available beginning at 6:30pm. Your whole family is invited to bring your picnic blankets and chairs and dinner and join in the party. The fireworks will begin at 10pm but you’ll want to be there way earlier for sure! Donatos pizza will be available as well as cold drinks but only cash is accepted.
The Kids Area will have face painting, carnival games and inflatables. The traveling Colt’s Museum, Colts in Motion will be on site for you to check out. There will be opportunities to speak with military personnel and their families and a dedication ceremony will take place on the music stage. What a great way to spend Independence day with your family!
