When I was home for Christmas (in California), I learned that our one and only local water park was shut down and closed for good. I’m so thankful that the Indianapolis area is home to some pretty spectacular pools, water parks and splash pads. The best part? Other than proximity and variety, the price tags are pretty awesome! At Splash Island, adults pay only $8.75 ($6.25 for town residents), $7.50 for youth ($5.25 for town residents) and $5.75 for a preschool pass ($4.25 for town residents). There are special prices for afternoon swim passes and night swim passes.
Splash Island (651 Vestal Rd., Plainfield) is a gorgeous and fun water park! Oh my gosh, they have a “lazy” river. Splash Island has named it a “Leisure River” and I’m okay with that! This is my favorite feature any water park and the Splash Island river is one and a half times the length of the river at the Monon Community Center water park. This means I get to lay back and relax for a long time. Now that you all know where to find me, let’s talk about the other awesomeness that Splash Island has!
There are three water slides that are about 2 ½ stories tall, an interactive play area for all ages including kiddie slides, water jets, ropes and guns, a gentle winding river (in addition to the leisure river!), lily pad crossing, two pulsating vortexes, a six lane competition pool with an attached diving well and two diving boards, a GUPPY TANK (how cute!) that is a pool for infants and small children, and plenty of deck space and grassy areas for sunbathing and family fun. Oh yeah, and a sand castle play area!
There is a snack bar area that sells snacks and lunch items, including my favorite:Dippin Dots! You are allowed to bring your own lunch in a cooler but they are to be kept in a designated area and will be searched when you arrive. No glass and no commercially prepared food.
