One of our favorite things to do in the winter is to go ice skating because it just seems like something you should do in the winter! Ice skating is also a summer favorite because the cool temperatures on the rink make us forget how hot and miserable it can be outside! Lucky for our family AND yours, there are several options for ice skating in the Indianapolis area. No matter how warm or cold it is outside, you and your family will want to dress warmly and wear layers so that if you do get too warm, you can remove a layer or put it back on if you get cold
The Indiana World Skating Academy is open year round for public skating so their schedule varies during the year. Check their website for the most up to date schedule. Please also note that they have special holiday skate times available! Children 4 and under are $3, children ages 5-11 are $4 each and ages 12+ are $5 each, skate rental is $3 per person. Closed until further notice for remodel – The Pepsi Colliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds is home to the Indiana Ice but you can chill out and have a great time throughout most of the year. The public skate hours vary and can be found on the website or by calling 317.927.7622. Parking is $3. Admission is $5 for 13 and older 
and $4 for 12 and under. Skate rental is $3.
The Carmel Ice Skadium also offers ice skating year round but check their calendar for public skate times because Carmel hosts the Zionsville Arctic Eagles Ice Hockey team as well as several leagues and lessons! Ages 10 and under pay $5 admission, ages 11 and up pay $6.50. Skate rental is $3. The Ice Skadium also offers “Stick and Puck” times! 317.844.8888 (1040 3rd Avenue SW, Carmel, In)
Perry Park on the south side offers ice skating from October to March. Ages 2 and under are free, 3-17 are $4 and 18 and up pay $5. Skate rental is $3. Check their website for public skate times and any closures due to hockey tournaments. 317.865.1833 (451 E Stop 11 Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46227)
The Arctic Zone Ice Plex in Westfield has a fun public skate schedule, including “Stick and Puck” times and Cosmic Skate. Admission is $5 for 10 and under, $6.50 for 11 and up and skate rental is $3. The Forum in Fishers has a facility with TWO skating rinks that are open for public skating most weekends during the Fall and Winter months as well as during the week while school is not in session.
