After hearing so many great things about Tuttle Orchards from Indy with Kids readers, I knew we had to take Lulu. One of the only days that we are able to do things during the week is on a Sunday but Tuttle Orchards is closed on Sundays so I was worried I wouldn’t make it there this year. Luckily we did!
U-pick apples are available through mid-October. Check out the Carmel Apple Festival on Saturday, September 7th! Tuttle Orchards also has one of my favorite fall scenes, perfect for photos! A SUNFLOWER patch!
The Pumpkin patch begins October 1st this year but all other actives start September 7th! Tuttle Orchards does not charge admission to enter their upick area but they do charge for some activities, including the hay ride, children’s play area and corn maze. There is a pumpkin patch of small pumpkins very close to the parking lot AND they provide wagons to tow your child and/or your pumpkins around (I’m betting that on Saturdays, the wagons are hard to come by — bring your own if you can). The prices for pumpkins were based on diameter and I found them to be very inexpensive compared to some other pumpkin patches.
For $3 you can give the educational corn maze a try and learn all about growing pumpkins. $3 will also allow your children access to the farm play area which includes a hay bale maze, a play ground, corn stalk huts and more! The hayride is $2 but only runs on Saturdays in October. Also on Saturdays you’ll be able to purchase food at the Food Stand. All week long you can enjoy seeing the farm animals. Lulu was very amused by the bees making honey in their hive. Make sure you check that out near the farm store…which is also a MUST visit.
While Tuttles is not open on Sundays, it is open Monday-Saturday and those weekday hours make it a great location for play groups and families with busy weekend schedules. Tuttle Orchards is located at 5717 North 300 West in Greenfield. They are open Monday – Wednesday 9am-6pm and Thursday – Saturday 9am-7pm.
