HOT! HOT! HOT! I know, I don’t have to tell you but gesh! Visiting every ice cream, froyo and snow cone establishment is just not cutting it! We’ve found a free way to cool off and still be outside. Indianapolis and the surrounding area is home to a ton of spray parks. Initially I had the list of nine spray parks operated by Indy Parks but after posting a map with all of them on it, all of you submitted your favorite spray parks that I hadn’t listed.
A spray park is typically a concrete pad with motion activated sensors that release streams of water, fountains and mists for kids to “walk” through. All day long you’ll hear squeals of delight and surprise as the patterns shift and soak unsuspecting kids (and adults). Some spray parks are located within the gates of swimming parks but as far as I know, the ones you’ll see mapped below are free. The spray parks are unmonitored and without a lifeguard at all times so please be sure to watch over your own kids. The rules say that kids under 9 MUST be accompanied by an adult within arm’s reach. There is no age limit so you’ll find “kids” of all ages having a good time.
