When Lulu was about five months old, one of my best friends was visiting from California and we wanted to do some Midwest fall-type things so we went to a pumpkin patch. Waterman’s is a farm market that is open 7 days a week May through October and they have two locations. We went to the Raymond Street location (7010 E Raymond Street, Indianapolis).
At Waterman’s there is an admission charge that covers a hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick out your pumpkin. Here is a $1 off admission coupon! The pumpkins are well priced at 35 cents per pound. We got THREE pumpkins for $8! Lulu posed for some amazing photos in the pumpkin patch and then on the hayride. We also went to the little petting zoo and watched a pumpkin eating dinosaur. There were so many things to do and some wonderful food vendors that made Waterman’s a wonderful place to take the whole family for a great day!
Waterman’s at Raymond Street is open from 9am-7pm beginning September 28th.
Something else that I really want to point out about Waterman’s. They have a portion of their farm set aside for refugee families to grow their own food. The particular refugees that they farm with at this time are the Karen from Burma. This grabbed my attention because for the past 4 1/2 years, I have been working with Karen refugees at “The Non-Profit”.
If you are looking for something fun to do with your family, check out Waterman’s through Halloween day and then go back for the Pumpkin Sling Shot.
